Program Description
Our Kids Jiu Jitsu program for Ages 4–5 at Reedy River Jiu Jitsu is specifically designed for our youngest students who are just beginning to explore movement, coordination, and social interaction. At this age, every class is built around active games, fun drills, and simple Jiu Jitsu concepts that keep little ones engaged while quietly building a foundation of body awareness and motor skills.
We understand that 4 and 5 year olds learn best through play, so our instructors make every session feel like an adventure. Children begin to learn how to listen, take turns, follow directions, and respect their training partners' life skills that go far beyond the mat. Safety and positive reinforcement are at the heart of everything we do in this class.
Parents consistently tell us how much their kids look forward to class each week, and how the confidence they build at Reedy River shows up at school and at home. If you're looking for a structured, fun, and nurturing environment where your 4 or 5 year old can get moving and grow, this program is the perfect place to start.
Built for Little Learners
Everything in this class is designed with 4 and 5 year olds in mind, from the length of instruction to the way techniques are broken down into simple, playful movements. Our instructors are patient, encouraging, and experienced in working with very young children.
Your child will feel safe, supported, and excited to come back each week. We celebrate small wins and make every student feel like a champion on the mat.
Confidence & Coordination
Jiu Jitsu naturally develops balance, spatial awareness, and fine motor coordination, all critical developmental skills for young children. As students learn to roll, tumble, and move their bodies with control, their overall physical confidence grows week by week.
Beyond the physical, children in this program begin to develop a sense of self-assurance that parents notice at home, at school, and in new social situations. A confident kid is a thriving kid.
Respect & Listening Skills
Every class begins and ends with structure bowing in, lining up, and showing respect to instructors and training partners. These rituals teach young students the value of discipline and attentiveness in a fun, low-pressure setting.
Children learn to listen carefully to instructions, follow class rules, and treat others with kindness. Many parents see a noticeable improvement in their child's behavior and focus both at home and in school.
