Program Description
Our Kids Jiu-Jitsu program for ages 6–8 introduces children to the fundamentals of no-gi Jiu-Jitsu in a structured, positive, and encouraging environment. At this age, students are ready for more detailed instruction while still learning through movement, games, and partner drills that keep every class fun and engaging.
Students will develop foundational positions, escapes, takedowns, and age-appropriate techniques while learning how to move safely and work confidently with others. Our coaches provide clear instruction, recognize each child’s individual learning style, and celebrate progress at every step.
Beyond technique, Jiu-Jitsu helps children build focus, confidence, resilience, respect, and problem-solving skills that carry into everyday life. It’s the perfect balance of learning, movement, and fun.

Real Jiu Jitsu Fundamentals
Students ages 6–8 are ready to start learning actual Jiu Jitsu, and that's exactly what we teach. Classes cover foundational positions, basic submissions, escapes, and movement drills that build a strong technical base from an early age.
Our curriculum is designed to grow with each student, so skills are reinforced over time and kids are always advancing. Starting early gives children a meaningful head start on their Jiu Jitsu journey that will benefit them for years to come.
Anti-Bully Confidence
One of the most powerful benefits our parents report is a dramatic increase in their child's confidence and ability to handle conflict. Jiu Jitsu teaches kids to stay calm under pressure, a skill that helps them de-escalate or safely handle bullying situations without resorting to aggression.
When a child knows they can handle themselves, they carry themselves differently. That quiet confidence changes how they interact at school, on the playground, and in everyday life.
Focus, Discipline & Respect
Jiu Jitsu requires students to pay close attention, remember sequences of movement, and work cooperatively with a partner, all of which strengthen attention span and self-regulation. Many parents see improvements in school performance and behavior shortly after their child begins training.
Respect for instructors, teammates, and the sport itself is a core part of every class. Students learn to win humbly, lose gracefully, and always show up ready to put in the work.
Fitness That's Actually Fun
Kids in this age group need to move, and Jiu Jitsu delivers a challenging full-body workout through games, drilling, and live training that never feels like exercise. Students build strength, flexibility, agility, and endurance without realizing they're working that hard.
Getting kids into a healthy, active habit at a young age pays dividends for a lifetime. Jiu Jitsu at Reedy River gives children a sport they'll genuinely love and want to stick with as they grow.
